We've been promising to take the boys to play in the snow for quite some time. We were planning on going in January...then the snow melted...sledding is not so much fun without snow! So, we had to wait for more snow. Then it seemed like every weekend was either stormy or we had other things going on. We finally had a free weekend! So, we packed up the big boys (Sam got to play with Nana and Grandpa, lucky boy!) and headed up to the mountains.
We drove to Wolverton in Sequoia National Park. It's a beautiful drive along side a river. The boys, however, were too busy trying to find the snow to appreciate the beauty around us! But, there were shouts of excitement from the back when the first bit if snow was spotted!
Once we got there, we dressed the boys in their snow clothes (it was the first time this year they've worn more than a sweatshirt!) and away we went!
Obviously, we weren't the only one with the idea of a day in the snow... So, after spending 30 or so minutes with the masses, we decided to try a different spot. We forged a trail up a hill behind some trees (hidden from those going to the sledding hill, but not from those coming back). The snow was deep enough to swallow Will up to his waist with almost every step.
We built a snowman, had a snowball fight, buried Will up to his chest, built a "fort", dug holes, ate snow (only the fresh white stuff!), and made our own sledding hill. After hours of fun, Mark and I finally called it a day. We were surprised the boys lasted as long as they did...actually I think they would have played a lot longer. But, at the same time, we didn't hear any complaints when we told them it was time to go home!
By the looks on their faces, I'd say our snow trip was a success!

How fun for you guys! Especially your boys! Wish we could wear sweatshirts in the winter and just drive to play in the snow! We get a little too much in our own backyard for my liking! Gets old real quick!
Great Family Fun!!!
Wish we could have joined you. Check out the blog I added some pics..
Looks like such a fun trip!
