Goulding Named BYU Head Coach

Congratulations Aunt Shay!

She was just named BYU's Head Volleyball Coach! We're excited to watch as she and her new team go through the next season together. Hopefully we'll even be able to catch a couple of California games. To read more, go to...

Super Heros!

Gabe is really into Spiderman right now! His enthusiasm is apparently rubbing off on little brother. They were playing really well together today, so I let them be. After a while, I decided to go check on them and this is what I found...

Gabe is Spiderman and Will is "the back Spiderman!" I didn't know Will even knew there was a black Spiderman! (To me, they look more like crazy boxers...but what do I know?)

I'm guessing the sock and underwear accents were the work of Gabe (I mean really, who can be Spiderman without Spiderman socks and underwear...hmm, I think we just need to work with him on the placement of these items!). Gabe even made "badges" for them to wear - I guess to make them more official.

More Strange Sleeping

Okay, do I just have weird kids or what? It's mostly just Will, though Gabe goes along with it a lot of the time. I seriously wonder why we have beds for them! I thought we were past some of these issues, but obivously I was wrong. These are the most recent...
The boys fell asleep "watching T.V".

Lately, when we tell the boys it's time to get ready for bed, Will jumps up and says "Please, can I sleep on the floor, mommy? Please can I? Please?!" Why he prefers the floor to the bed, I have no idea! I used to fight this and then figured that as long as he was willing to go to sleep, why should I care where as long as he was in his room! Anyway, this particular night Gabe decided to join him. At some point, Gabe also decided they needed to watch T.V. No, they don't have a T.V. in their room, but they do have a good imagination! Gabe turned a rubbermaid container on it's side and put a few toys in it...Voila! T.V.!

Will and his rubbermaid "pillow".

A couple of nights ago, we put the boys to bed but they obviously weren't ready to go to sleep. They were driving me nuts! At one point, I found Will on top of his dresser (just an example of how NOT ready to sleep they were). After about an hour, it suddenly went completely quiet. Mark checked on them, came back and said "You'd better come see this. And bring the camera." I knew it had to be good! Sure enough, I wasn't disappointed! Will had taken the rubbermaid container (a.k.a "the T.V.") and fallen asleep on top of it. How in the world can that be comfortable?!? Will is constantly on the go, but when he stops, he is out!

Fort Apache

Before...

AFTER!!

Mark and his helpers.

After many months of the boys begging, pleading, and groveling (Gabe even drew up several sets of playset plans) for a playset...Fort Apache has arrived! We had actually bought a kit a few weeks ago, but then I decided to check ebay. It was really a rather random decision that turned out to be quite beneficial for us! There was a family in Bakersfield (about an hour south of us) selling their 6 month old playset. We watched it for the next few days figuring that there couldn't be too many people out there looking to buy a playset on ebay (especially for "pick-up only").
So, last Saturday we became the proud owners of Fort Apache. Mark and my dad spent the morning taking it down and transporting it home. It spent most of the week taking up space in our garage so we could take time to weatherproof it. By Saturday afternoon it was complete (well, except for the awnings)! The boys were more than happy to test it out without the "extras".
The slide was a big hit! I enjoyed watching Will come down the slide, the static made his hair stand straight up. Gabe mastered the rock wall quickly. Will had a lot more trouble with it...hmm, maybe the fact that he was wearing Gabe's cowboy boots had something to do with that! He would get most of the way up, lose his footing, and slide back down. His tummy has some pretty good scrapes and bruises on it from the foot holds, but that didn't slow him down. He kept trying! About 20 minutes later, he finally managed to make it all the way up! Talk about determined!

Swings sure are fun! And who says you have to sit?

Come on up, Gabe!

Love the static!

Who let the elf in our playhouse?

Going up!

Are you wondering why it's name is "Fort Apache"? Actually, I have no idea other than when Mark and my dad pulled up with it in the horse trailer my dad annouced "Fort Apache has arrived!" And the name stuck. Gabe has plans to make a sign that says "Fort Apache" to put on it. Thanks dad for all the help with the transport and dismantling of "Fort Apache"!
